Content spammers

I’m not so sure I would say what GregK said, but I understand. Sorry, I had another Chris Rock moment.

Today, after upgrading thicke.org to WordPress 1.2.2, it looks like the authimage plugin broke. Since this morning, I’ve had a small flood of poker ads posted in the comments for almost all of my posts, including this one:

Author : free online poker (IP: 66.83.186.194 , mail.inspectornetwork.com)
E-mail : onzgicd@aee2bfc84b9ef7782155e5868be2f5c40.com

Whois : http://ws.arin.net/cgi-bin/whois.pl?queryinput=66.83.186.194
Comment:
The envious man thinks that if his neighbor breaks a leg, he will be able to walk better himself.

I removed the actual address posted to keep the bastard from getting any benefit from this. The IP address is from some University in Michigan, Arbor Lake, or something like that. It’s probably a compromised PC or something on their network. I tried to contact them, but their “contact” page on their website sucks big time.

I’ve installed Trencaspammers in authimage’s place. What an awesome plugin this one is. Not only does it work, but the image looks a whole lot purdier…… Plus, no more spam since it’s been in place.

Thanks Coffelius!

  1. Hi Marc, I just want to thank you for including yusop.net in your links. I will add your site to mine shortly. I will also include Trencaspammers in my next upgrade. These spammers forced me to to enable moderation of comments on my site. I got several of them right after installation of my WP.

  2. Cool man, thanks! I know what you mean about the spammers, they make it hard to be a good Christian, don’t they?

  3. WordPress Update Bandwagon
    It’s crowded in here.

I updated to WordPress 1.2.2 recently.

This is a partial list of other people who upgraded recently from the first 2 SERPs for ‘WordPress 1.2.2′ at technorati. I counted 19 entries from people who updated to 1.2.2. Ther…
