The more I pay attention to politics….
By Marc • Jan 27th, 2005 • Category: Politics, the RanterI never really paid much attention to politics when I was younger. I pretty much just followed the crowd and agreed with what my friends said or thought. This always leaned me more towards the left. I realize how that sounds, but that was me back then. I just didn’t care that much. As I have grown older, I have started to pay more attention to whats going on in the world. I read news on the web and watch both CNN and Fox News. I have also tried to study history more in order to understand how what we did yesterday affects us today. It seems that the more I pay attention to what’s actually going on and do not follow the status quo, the more I have right side leanings. I try my best to stay in the middle. But it seems as I dig up my core beliefs, which have been buried under years of peer pressure and appeasement, the more I find that they fall right of center. I’m sure there will always be issues that have me fall in line with the left, for instance the use of capital punishment in this country. But for the most part, I have become a conservative. So, I hope you’ll forgive me when I say that this story makes me wonder, “You say that the democrats opposed her nomination like it’s a bad thing.”
