Kudos to Holy Rosary School!

By Marc • Feb 23rd, 2005 • Category: River City, the Church

Holy Rosary School (the parish school of Mine and Suzette’s parish in Memphis) was chosen as the number one private school in Memphis by “Memphis Parent” magazine. I have to say “good job” to all the staff there, especially to the relativity new principal Darren Mullins. Read the story here in the CA.

Poor Lindsay

By Marc • Feb 23rd, 2005 • Category: Pop Culture

OK……I loved her in “Freaky Friday“, I will admit that. I know she’s a rich and famous star of the screen and the compact disc. I know she can have most anything she wants. But what it seems she can’t have is a father that won’t embarrass her. I really feel [...]

Right to die case????

By Marc • Feb 23rd, 2005 • Category: News, the Ranter

I just don’t get it why the MSM wants to write their headlines with such lies like this. This is not a right to die case for poor Terri. This is a right to murder case for her husband and it looks like he’s goning to win. Jimmy Aiken has a good [...]

The other Reed, and other beard stories

By Marc • Feb 19th, 2005 • Category: Pop Culture, the Geek, the Weirdo

So, as Jimmy Aiken put it, “now we know”. I have to say I was pretty impressed with the episode of Enterprise last night. It explained the reason for the different looks we’ve seen in Kingons over the years and it did it very well. As I said at Jimmy’s place, it’s [...]

Friday night philosophy question

Marriage Seminar

By Marc • Feb 17th, 2005 • Category: In My Mail

OK….I’ve already posted a joke I got about a good husband. Now here’s one about a not so good husband.
While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor: “It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important [...]

Please help!

By Marc • Feb 17th, 2005 • Category: the Weirdo

I really don’t want to commit any kind of faux pas here. So take a look at this picture that was in an advertising email I got today….

Now who exactly am I supposed to send flowers to for President’s Day? And what type of flowers???

The move - An update

By Marc • Feb 17th, 2005 • Category: Marc

Well, it’s getting closer now. The actual move is scheduled for next Thursday (the 24th). For those of you that haven’t seen my previous post, I’ve accepted job with a cable channel in Nashville. It’s a step up from where I am now, in that it’s a more comfortable work [...]

Straczynski doing Star Trek???

By Marc • Feb 16th, 2005 • Category: In My Mail, Pop Culture, the Geek

On an emailing I was on I posted this link to an article at SciFi about JMS writing a treatment for a new Star Trek show and the possibility of him pitching it to Paramount for production.
Here the two replies:
That would be cool. I think the franchise does need a breath of fresh air, [...]

Jack’s a good husband…..

By Marc • Feb 16th, 2005 • Category: In My Mail

I got this in my email. I thought it was funny. But it also shows a model of a good husband…
Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company’s Christmas party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn’t taste like alcohol a bit. He didn’t even remember how [...]

America needs a new drug problem

By Marc • Feb 15th, 2005 • Category: In My Mail, the Ranter

I got this in my email at work. It really hits home….
WHY DIDN’T WE HAVE A DRUG PROBLEM?
The other day, someone at a small-town store read that a methamphetamine
lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county. He asked
me a rhetorical question, “Why didn’t we have [...]

Site Upgrade

By Marc • Feb 15th, 2005 • Category: the Site

I just upgraded to Wordpress 1.5. I thought (thought mind you) I had everything ready for my theme. I thought wrong. I’m prolly gonna get on of the themes at Yusop.net and modify it. I’m not really sure yet. I was never really happy with what I had before [...]

The guys rules

By Marc • Feb 15th, 2005 • Category: In My Mail, the Weirdo

I got this in my email tonight. I thought I’d comment on it some..
The Guys’ Rules
At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down
Finally, the guys’ side of the story. (I must admit, it’s pretty good.)
We always hear “the rules” from the female side.
Now here are the rules from the [...]

Sister Lucia - RIP

By Marc • Feb 14th, 2005 • Category: the Church

OK. The Catholic blogoshpere has covered Sister Lucia’s passing on pretty completely. But, I have to add my memorial also. She showed us a beautiful image of our blessed mother. For that we must be thankful. Thank you Sister Lucia. Pray for us!

Battlestar will be back!

By Marc • Feb 9th, 2005 • Category: Pop Culture, the Geek

SciFi channel has ordered a new season of Battlestar Galactica. This is good news, as this series is reshaping the way we present scifi. I think it’ll be an influence on the genre for years to come. Talk about this show on my new forum area here.

News from the home front - Marc and Suzette are moving!

By Marc • Feb 9th, 2005 • Category: Marc

After three interviews, much discussion between me and Suzette and prayerful consideration of all our options, I have accepted a job in the Nashville area. At the end of my final two weeks with my current employer, we will packing up and moving to Nashville. We will miss all our friends and family [...]

New faces for Stargate

By Marc • Feb 7th, 2005 • Category: Pop Culture, the Geek

It looks like both the Stargate shows are getting some new faces. Stargate SG-1 will be adding Beau Bridges and Lou Gossett Jr. Stargate Atlantis will be getting Mitch Pileggi. It sounds like all of these are recurring roles.

Iran voted for the nuclear weapons program before it didn’t vote for it

By Marc • Feb 7th, 2005 • Category: Politics, the Ranter

OK…..I was reading this article over at Yahoo news. I’m thinking there’s a contradiction there…..
First Rohani says:
If such an attack (against Iran’s atomic facilities) takes place then of course we will retaliate and we will definitely accelerate our activities to complete our (nuclear) fuel cycle.
This to me means they will accelerate their nuclear weapons [...]
