Friday night at the tube…again

OK……I’ve got a lot I want to say about Friday’s Enterprise and JAG. But, I really need to put in some spoiler warnings here.

I can sum up just how cool Enterprise was in two words……”Empress Sato”……How cool was that???
I think they did a real good job making the mirror universe seem believable and tying the story in with the TOS episode “The Tholian Web”. Before anyone freaks out on me about continuity too, we have to keep in mind that this may or may not be the same universe the TOS folks went to in “Mirror, Mirror”. That’s the beauty of alternate universe/timeline stories in the SF genre, you can do whatever you want. As I said last week, the opening sequence was really cool too, with the change in music (possibly a nose thumb to the folks who complained about the opening music for this series at the beginning?) and the change from and exploration theme to one of war. All in all, this was an excellent story and I wish we had more seasons to to go since the writing on this series has improved so much this season.

Now on to JAG. I have to admit that I’ve always loved this show. For the most part, Donald P. Bellisario makes some good shows and this was one of them. Of course I always watched the show for the military side. It was a very patriotic show at a time when we needed one bad. As for the ending, it was really and ending more for the “shippers” out there that were following so close the romantic relationship of the characters Harm and Mac. I do have to admit that any fool could see that Harm and Mac were never going to get together until they were forced apart (well, the truth is of course they would never get together until the show was canceled). My wife was loving the ending up until the very end, where you don’t find out which one of them resigns their commission so they can be together.

  1. What I found interesting was that in the evil mirror universe the clothes were more slutty and sex was much more in the story line. Interesting that they would consider these elements evidence of a more evil universe.

  2. Well, on the sex thing, it was always used as a means to an end too, instead of what it’s supposed to be “used” for….
