Trouble in the Philippines

By • Jun 11th, 2005 • Category: The Philippines

There is yet another scandal involving Phillipine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. This is probably the closest she’s come to it being curtains for her administration though.

It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is for someone to buy or otherwise take the election of a national office. I know Gore tried it in 2000, but it happens every election over there.

One thing I especially took note of:

“She should consider quitting voluntarily,” said Linda Cordova, a mother of three. “For the good of the country, for the good of the people, Arroyo has to go now.”

GMA hasn’t done anything for the good of the country yet, why should anyone thing she’ll start now?
