Some new content
By Marc • Oct 6th, 2005 • Category: MovieReviews, the SiteI’ve added a category called “MovieReviews”. I plan to at least say a few words about every movie I see. So far the subs include “NetFlix”, “Theater” and “On TV”.
I just recently opened a NetFlix account and am very happy with it. I’ve seen six movies and have one waiting for me at the house. Here’s a quick run down of what I’ve seen from them already:
- Beauty Shop This movie was really funny. Suzette and I both loved it. Also, whoever it was that said Alicia Silverstone got fat, lied…
- The Incredibles There’s quite a few animated movies to come out lately that I really liked. This was not one of them.
- Downfall What a great film. Like the movie Kids, I never want to see it again even though it’s so good.
- I, Robot This was much better than I thought it would be. The only thing holding it back was the usual bland performance by Bridget Moynahan.
- XXX: State of the Union Sucked rotten corn husks.
- The Thin Red Line I had seen his before and was mostly interested in seeing if it was as bad as I remember. You know, when a film has as much narration as this one it usually means the films makers can’t figure out to express something on camera. That’s bad….
So there you have it. expect more soon.

You didn’t like The Incredibles?? What’s not to like? It was a good story, had great dialog, paid tribute to a couple of classic genres, terrific action sequences, realistic interaction among the family members…not to mention the beautiful scene composition and rendering. I can’t believe that there’s anyone who didn’t like it.
I don’t know. Maybe I couldn’t see the forest for the trees or something, but I just thought it was dull.
Dull. Wow. Maybe seeing it in the theater made a difference for me. I went to “pre-screen” it to see if it was suitable for my son. I was so jazzed I couldn’t wait until the next day when we were all going to go, so I could see it again and watch my son’s reactions, especially in the scene where Dash finally gets to really cut loose. He loved it, too.
Oh, well. No two people are the same.
