A&E plans a movie about Lourdes
By Marc • Nov 4th, 2005 • Category: Catholic stuff, the ChurchYou always have to question the motives of a TV network, even one of the lesser ones like A&E on something like this. A&E has had plenty of anti-Christian and more specifically anti-Catholic programing in the past, especially since the publishing of that Da Vinci book. But this sounds like they are trying to be fair.
Lourdes will follow the true story of a terminally ill surgeon who is healed after taking the waters at Lourdes and later investigates the power of the site. Lussier has access to the Lourdes archives, which contain details of the 68 cases that have been classified as official miracles, in addition to thousands of anecdotal accounts of miraculous healing.
Let’s hope it doesn’t stray to far from that…
I admit a lack of knowledge on this appearance of our Blessed Mother. If anyone has any good website links or can suggest a good book, please leave a comment!

Interesting to watch the progress of this project.
We have several good books in English on the apparitions of Lourdes.
One I would recommend is “Bernadette of Lourdes” By Fr Rene Laurentin. There are many more. I also recommend you watch “The Song of Bernadette” a film made in 1943 following the publication of the bestseller of the same name by Franz Werfel.
There are many documentary videos available in English on Lourdes.
For the sake of accuracy, there have been 67 (not 68) cures in Lourdes officially declared as “miraculous”By the Church Authorities. The latest one proclaimed on 9th November last week.
Thanks Barry. I’ll check out your store. “The Song of Bernadette” is in my Netflix queue.
