A great Baptist preacher dies

By • Nov 15th, 2005 • Category: Prayer for the Dead, the Church

“MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Rev. Adrian Rogers, a three-time president of the Southern Baptist Convention and leader of a conservative takeover of the denomination, the nation’s second largest, died early Tuesday in Memphis. He was 74.”

While I would differ with him a great deal theologically, Rev. Rogers is man I have a great deal of respect and love for. He turned the entire Southern Baptist Convention on ear and brought them closer to God on a lot of issues. He has a fire and passion for The Lord that I can only admire and hope to emulate.

Eternal rest grant unto them oh Lord. And may perpetual light shine on them. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

  1. Even though he wouldn’t have understood it while he was alive, let’s pray for his soul now that he has joined either the Church Suffering or the Church Triumphant.
