By Marc • Nov 24th, 2005 • Category: the Ranter, the Weirdo

“COLUMBIA, S.C. - ‘Y’all’ isn’t welcome in Erica Tobolski’s class in voice and diction at the University of South Carolina. And forget about ‘fixin’,’ as in getting ready to do something, or ‘pin’ when talking about the writing instrument.
Tobolski’s class is all about getting rid of accents, mostly Southern ones in the heart of the [...]

I’m surprised this isn’t against Scientology. He does [...]

Further, if you follow all these rules [...]

Today’s Dilbert

Dilbert’s one of my favorites. But today’s was extra funny. If it worked for Scott Adams, it can work for anyone….

“Claudia Black (Farscape) joins the regular cast of SCI FI Channel’s original series Stargate SG-1 in its upcoming 10th season, and the principal cast members of both SG-1 and its spinoff series, Stargate Atlantis, have signed on to reprise their roles in the recently announced new seasons, the network said.

I’ve heard talk that the reason [...]

FBI Warns of E-Mail About Surveillance

By Marc • Nov 21st, 2005 • Category: Computers, In My Mail

I’ve gotten a ton of these emails that were stopped cold by our virus protection at work. I even got a couple that were “from the FBI” that were pretty funny. One also claimed to be from the CIA. I’m just glad I didn’t get one from FEMA. That would’ve been [...]

By Marc • Nov 21st, 2005 • Category: In Other News...., the Weirdo

“MANILA (Reuters) - Filipinos could have collectors’ items in their wallets after a small number of 100-peso (1 pound) bills slipped into circulation with an error in the president’s name.”
Apparently they mis-spelled it “S-C-A-N-D-A-L”… It’s an easy mistake to make. I mean nobody’s perfect.
UPDATE: I need to make a correction. Apparently “Scandal” [...]

“MANILA (AFP) - Philippine President Gloria Arroyo has condemned the latest bomb attacks in
Iraq and expressed condolences for two Filipinos who were among the victims.”
I’m surprised she’s condemning anything bad. I wonder how she is going to leverage this to draw attention away from her stolen election last year. I also wonder how she’s going [...]
