Narnia – A great movie
By Marc • Dec 12th, 2005 • Category: MovieReviews, TheaterAccording to SciFi Wire, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe came in first in box office receipts this weekend (67 million…WOW!).
Suzette and I braved the Mall crowds on Saturday to see it. We both gave it two thumbs up. I found the special effects impressive. At times, it was hard to remember that beavers, wolves and lions don’t really talk. From the reviews I’ve read in the blogoshpere so far though, it looks like I am not alone in saying that especially impressive was the performance by ten year old Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie. Can you say “stole the show”? I knew you could. Along with her fellow child actors, she managed to make the story believable just by the looks of wonder and awe she was able to to display when needed.
Having not read the book, I can’t comment on how faithful the movie was. I think I might need to get a copy of the book though…..
I highly recommend this movie if you haven’t seen it. I would however caution against talking small children. There are some rather scary scenes and some violence during the warfare that may not be suitable for some little ones. Just use your best judgment.
