a del.icio.us power failure
By Marc • Dec 14th, 2005 • Category: On The Web, the GeekOur datacenter has had full power outage, and we are now recovering from the aftermath. About half of the machines are still down and we are working on bringing them back as soon as possible. To keep things moving, I’ve turned off RSS and some other features so that posting will still work and so that you will still have access to your bookmarks.
5pm EST Update: Everything is back up. We apologize for the inconvenience. It looks like a number of slave servers are corrupted. We’re rebuilding them now and taken the site down so this goes as quickly as possible.
HM…..And I had just put something in place for a “links for the day” post. We’ll see what happens.

Hopefully, Yahoo’s acquisition of del.icio.us will bring more reliability to the service. I’ve been getting hooked on it, which makes the downtimes more frustrating.
I hope so Ed. Yahoo has made things right with Flickr when they made bad decisions there. I hope they do the same with del.icio.us.
Migrating Yahoo MyWeb with del.icio.us would make sense since a larger network of bookmarks should provide more votes, thus quality results.
