By Marc • Dec 28th, 2005 • Category: In Other News...., River City, the Weirdo

I keep telling you all that zombies really do exist.
Over the weekend, Harvey added maps of the deceased voters’ locations. He’s also posted a list of names and other data on his campaign website.
Now will you believe me????

Car Allowances for Memphis City School Officials

By Marc • Nov 25th, 2005 • Category: River City, the Ranter

MEMPHIS – They’re riding on your dime. Every month, Memphis City School board members and a long list of school officials get a car allowance.
One of them is city school Chief Operating Officer Michael Goar. “We travel quite a bit, to buildings, visit buildings, make sure buildings are up to par,” says Goar.
And that my [...]

Building where Marc was born goes up in a cloud of dust

By Marc • Nov 7th, 2005 • Category: Marc, River City

Baptist Memorial Hospital (central- downtown – whatever) is officially no more. This is the hospital I was born in. Around thirty years later I would work there too for about three months until BMH’s corporate offices had officially moved out of the building. Sometimes I really miss Memphis. This is one [...]

Local boy makes a funny…

By Marc • Jun 9th, 2005 • Category: River City

This is pretty cool. A guy went to Holy Rosary and CBHS is now doing stand up. I just hope it’s clean.
Check it out in the CA.

John Ford Resigns After Arrest

By Marc • May 28th, 2005 • Category: River City, the Ranter

Get the story here.
All I can say is it’s about time. After all the Crazy stuff John’s pulled over the years, I am glad he is no longer a Tennessee State Senator. He actually flipped me the bird one day while driving next to me on Poplar back in Memphis. I am [...]

Shoutout to Bishop Terry

By Marc • May 25th, 2005 • Category: River City, the Church

It’s been almost three months since Suzette and I moved from Memphis to Nashville. While I love our new life in our new home city, I do miss the Church in Memphis. With Nashville being a vacant see, I still in my heart think of Bishop Terry as my bishop.
With that in mind [...]

Google Sightseeing in Memphis

By Marc • May 24th, 2005 • Category: River City, the Geek

If you haven’t heard the news, Google’s got a new map application on their site. If you get bored with the maps, you can switch to aerial\satellite photography. One of the neat new sites that’s come out lately is dedicated to finding neat or even weird things in the photographs. It’s [...]

Memphis churchgoers offended by priest abuse leaflets

By Marc • May 22nd, 2005 • Category: River City, the Church

Get the story here.
Members of a Memphis Roman Catholic church say they’re upset that a group protesting priest sexual abuse of youngsters left leaflets on their cars.
Well, first off it should be “Memphis Roman Catholic parish”. But anyway, I understand why they’re so upset. I would be upset too. SNAP should just [...]

The best BBQ is not in Memphis???

By Marc • Mar 18th, 2005 • Category: Marc, River City

I know I’m probably going to get in a lot of trouble for this, but here goes. I have a new favorite BBQ place. It’s a chain and they don’t have a location in Memphis. It’s Famous Dave’s. I think the problem with Memphis is that you basically have to kinds [...]

Kudos to Holy Rosary School!

By Marc • Feb 23rd, 2005 • Category: River City, the Church

Holy Rosary School (the parish school of Mine and Suzette’s parish in Memphis) was chosen as the number one private school in Memphis by “Memphis Parent” magazine. I have to say “good job” to all the staff there, especially to the relativity new principal Darren Mullins. Read the story here in the CA.

There’s a lot of upset people in the River City today

By Marc • Dec 23rd, 2004 • Category: River City, Sports

University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University) lost 52-35 at the GMAC bowl in Mobile last night. Is it just me, or does that sound more like a low basketball score than a high football score? Read all about at Yahoo News here and at the University’s website here.

Bad weather

By Marc • Dec 22nd, 2004 • Category: River City, the Ranter

OK. Here in Memphis the weather is horrible right now. It’s been sleeting since about 1200 and it’s right around 1632 now. The roads are slick and visibility is poor. When my director came through telling people to go home and work the rest of the day from home, I took [...]
